MEERUT: Three masons lost their lives after a mud wall collapsed at a construction site in UP’s Meerut district under the jurisdiction of Bhawanpur police station on Sunday afternoon. While Ram Chandra (40) and Ram Pravesh (45), died, Guru Prasad (42), initially trapped in the mud, was rescued but later succumbed to injuries during treatment in hospital.
Prasad and Chandra were residents of Raebareli, while Pravesh hailed from Bihar.
Deputy SP Nitin Taneja told , “The incident occurred at an under-construction building in Meerut’s Pocket U region. The men were engaged in excavation work for constructing the basement when a substantial amount of mud collapsed on them.”
DSP said, “Following a complaint filed by Ram Pravesh’s brother, Anil, we lodged an FIR under IPC section 304 against the contractor and construction company. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.”
