NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted regular bail to social activist Teesta Setalvad over charges of forging documents and tutoring witnesses in cases relating to the 2002 post-Godhra riots in Gujarat.
The apex court said that since chargesheet has been filed and her custodial interrogation completed, she should be granted bail.
The SC bench said that the activist would be treated as on continuous bail since September 2, 2022 but told her not to influence any witnesses.
“If she does then prosecution can move SC directly for cancellation of bail,” it said.
Earlier, the apex court had granted interim protection to Setalvad, whose regular bail was rejected by the Gujarat high court in the case.
