NEW DELHI: At least four people are feared dead and several others injured after six coaches of the North East Express derailed in Bihar’s Buxar on Wednesday.
The superfast train was going from Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal to Assam’s Kamakhya when it derailed around 9:35pm near Raghunathpur station.
The rescue teams have been rushed to the site.
“Some coaches of train number 12506 North East Express going from Anand Vihar Terminal to Kamakhya derailed at 9.35pm today near Raghunathpur station of Danapur division. Helpline number PNBE – 9771449971, DNR – 8905697493, ARA – 8306182542, COML CNL – 7759070004,” the Northern Railways said in a statement.
The injured passengers are being rushed to the nearest hospital.

Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav has spoken to the district magistrate and SP of Buxar and Arrah and directed them to make proper arrangements for the injured and send the officers concerned to the accident site.
In June, three trains had collided into each other in Odisha’s Balasore, leading to the death of 296 passengers in one of India’s worst railway tragedies.
