WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature which will enable users to apply text formatting tools to messages.
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is introducing a feature that allows users to utilise new text formatting tools for their messages. The feature is presently available only for iOS beta testers.
The latest update has introduced an array of new formatting tools aimed at enhancing the user experience when customising the appearance and layout of text messages.
Here are the formatting tools to users can use to format their messages:
1. Code block: this tool is primarily designed to facilitate code sharing within WhatsApp. While it is frequently employed by software engineers and programmers, it is accessible to all users. In case you want to use this formatting tool, simply include the backtick character to format your text.
2. Quote block: the Quote Block is useful for responding to a specific part of a prior message. You can implement this formatting tool by prefixing the text with the “>” character.
3. Lists: lists offer a method for neatly organising information. You can create ordered lists by starting your text with “*”, “-“, or numbers.
These tools make it easier for users to further style their messages, whether it’s for casual chats or more formal discussions.
WhatsApp support for 18 smartphones ending on October 24
The popular messaging platform has declared its intention to discontinue compatibility with select Android and iPhone devices starting from the upcoming week. Starting on October 24, 2023, WhatsApp will cease to provide support for certain older smartphone models.
“To keep up with the latest advances in technology, we routinely stop supporting older operating systems to point our resources to supporting the latest ones. If we stop supporting your operating system, you’ll be notified and reminded a few times to upgrade your device to continue using WhatsApp. We’ll also update this page regularly to ensure that the latest Android version we support is listed here,” added WhatsApp.
