LUCKNOW: Enraged by a love affair, a man beheaded his sister in UP‘s Barabanki district and then took the “severed head” in a sack to the Fatehpur police station.
The locals spotted him carrying the head and then informed the police.
Police arrested the man, identified as Riyaz (24), and sent him to jail.
Barabanki additional superintendent of police Ashutosh Mishra told TOI that around 11 am, a verbal spat took place between the victim, Asifa (18), and her brother, Riyaz, at their residence in Mithwara village under Fatehpur police station.
“The dispute pertained to Asifa insisting on marrying her friend Chand Babu but her brother and family were against it. On May 29, Asifa’s father Abdul Rashid had also lodged an FIR under the charges of IPC 366 (abducting a woman to marry) against Chand Babu following which he was arrested and sent to the jail,” said Mishra.
Asifa was keen to marry and start a life with Chand Babu which led to a brawl on Thursday morning.
“In a fit of rage Riyaz picked up a sharp-edged weapon and beheaded her sister before packing her head in a sack and went to police station,” said ASP Mishra.
