JAMMU: Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing along the International Border (IB) in Arnia sector of Jammu on Thursday evening, prompting the BSF troops to retaliate “befittingly”.
A BSF spokesperson said the firing at the border post started around 8 pm, and was still on when reports last came in.
This is the second instance of ceasefire violation by Pakistan Rangers in the last 10 days.On October 17, two BSF jawans were injured in the unprovoked firing at Vikram post in the same sector.
This was the first major incident of ceasefire violation, causing injuries to troops, after the February 25, 2021 agreement between India and Pakistan to strictly observe ceasefire along the IB and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas.
