SRINAGAR: A special police officer (SPO) has been missing from Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district since Wednesday.
Tahir Ahmed Dar, 25, was newly married and, according to a senior colleague, “depressed”. Tahir left his home in the Duroo area Wednesday morning saying was going to see a doctor but did not return, his family said.
Tahir worked as a tele-operator at the Sopore police station.“We are very worried,” Tahir’s brother Aamir said after filing a missing report on Thursday. SPOs are hired on contractual terms and assist the regular police.
The mystery behind Tahir’s disappearance deepened after a senior police officer claimed he had been on leave for some time and was “struggling with depression”. “Efforts have been initiated to locate him and ensure his safety,” the officer said. The cops urged the public to help if they have any information on Tahir.
