Convention centre blast in Kerala’s Kochi: What we know so far
The arrest happened about 24 hours after he surrendered before the police and confessed to the crime on Sunday.
Police sources said that the Dominic Martin, also known as Martin VD, has caused the explosion that sent shockwaves across the country using locally made explosive devices after learning about it online. He has used 50 gundu crackers (commonly used in festivals), around eight litres of petrol and a simple circuit and remote to cause the explosion.
Interestingly, the man himself has collected various self-incriminating evidence before surrendering and confessing, making the police’s job easier. Official sources said that they were able to corroborate most of it. “He has recorded a video of him pressing a remote and blasting the Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Also, he has bills of materials that he purchased for making the device,” said an officer.
The blast occured on Sunday morning at around 9.30 am and one among them victims died on the spot followed by two others who succumbed to injuries at a hospital.
