Apart from this, Bungie has also reportedly delayed an upcoming Destiny 2 expansion, The Final Shape.This expansion which was set to be released in February 2024 has been rescheduled to June next year, the report notes. This move will help the company to push the Destiny 2 expansion out ofSony‘s current fiscal year, the report noted. Bungie has also postponed its next game, Marathon, to 2025.

Bungie CEO took to social media platform X to announce the job cuts. He wrote: “Today is a sad day at Bungie as we say goodbye to colleagues who have all made a significant impact on our studio.”
As per the report, Parsons said staffers would be “hearing some news” in an earlier email. He also called for a team meeting to discuss the layoffs.
In early 2022, Sony purchased Bungie in a $3.6 billion deal. The Japanese gaming giant has also been cutting staff across its PlayStation division in 2023. The company lost several key producers this year. Last month, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan also announced his retirement which is due in March.
Gaming companies are trying to cut costs even after a year full of hits. This has affected thousands of video game workers as the industry saw mass layoffs in 2023. In September, Fortnite maker Epic Games announced 900 job cuts across multiple divisions.
