Security beefed up on Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde’s home turf after violence | Thane News

THANE: Thane Police has beefed up security outside the residence of Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde and other MLAs and MP in the city in the backdrop of violence reported across different parts of state.

The police said that after the agitators torched the bungalows of MLAs in Marathwada as well as political party offices belonging to elected representatives, the Thane city police are on high alert being the home turf of the chief minister.It is learned that the 200-meter service road leading to Shinde’s residence near Louiswadi has been barred for motorists.

Senior police officials also took stock of the situation across the city and claimed to have increased the patrolling to avert any kind of untoward incident, said Shrikant Paropkari, the deputy commissioner of police (special branch).
Along with one joint commissioner, four additional commissioners and six deputy commissioners, assistant commissioner, over 100 officers of assistant and sub-inspector rank as well as 3,000 constabulary are kept on bandobast duty, the officer said.

Alos, two platoons of SRPF have also been deployed in addition to the local police station staff and the leaves of officers have been canceled, it is learned.
