NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra informed the Delhi high court on Tuesday that she wants to withdraw the defamation case against several media houses, but the lawsuit will continue against two defendants – BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai. The case pertains to the alleged circulation of fake and defamatory content against her.
Moitra’s counsel said she was not seeking any interim relief at this stage. She also requested the court of Justice Sachin Dutta to permit the removal of all defendants except Dubey and Dehadrai and to make necessary changes in the pleadings of the case.
The parties to be dropped from the case include social media platforms X, Google, and YouTube. During the hearing, Dubey’s counsel argued that Moitra had committed perjury by denying all allegations but later admitting to sharing her parliamentary login credentials with a businessman.
