MYSURU: Karnataka minister and Congress leader Priyank Kharge said on Friday that it is the party high command that makes the decision on who should be the chief minister, and if the high command asks him to take charge, he will abide.
“I’m a soldier of the party, and I will respect the party high command’s decision. If MLC D Thimmaiah, who was with the minister at Mysuru Zilla Panchayath, is directed to take charge as CM, I will support it,” Priyank said in Mysuru.
Priyank is in Mysuru to review the progress of the work of the RDPR department.
In response to a query about ‘demands’ for a change in CM in the state, Priyank, who is also chairman of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) communications, hit back by questioning whether deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar or he had expressed a desire to become CM.
“Everyone wishes to become CM, and there is nothing wrong with this, but it is the high command that makes the final choice on this matter,” he added further.
