India’s high commissioner to Canada Sanjay Verma has urged Ottawa to release evidence backing up its accusation that agents of Indian government were behind the killing of separatist Hardeep Nijjar, according to a report in The Globe and Mail. India maintains that Canada’s allegations are unsubstantiated and absurd.
“There is no specific information provided in this case for us to assist them in the investigation.Where is the evidence? Where is the conclusion of the investigation? I would go a step further and say the investigation has already been tainted,” Verma said. He added that any conversations between diplomats were protected and could not be used as evidence in court or publicly released.
