Vaughan’s comment comes on the back of Shastri’s statement on the master blaster. Shastri, Adam Gilchrist, and Vaughan appeared on a podcast for Club Prairie Fire, where the former India coach was asked who he feels is the most technically gifted batsman of all time.To which Shastri replied, Tendulkar is the one and only name that comes to his mind.
“I would say Sachin Tendulkar across all formats. The player I have seen who adapted, adjusted and was consistent in whatever he did. And brought that pure element into batting. The purity of his game was such that it was very difficult to replicate it,” Shastri said on the podcast.
“You will get better run-getters and people who may score runs at a faster pace. Guys who will come with more power. But when it comes to technique he made the batting look so easy even when he was scoring quickly it was all proper cricketing shots that came naturally to him.
“Front foot, back foot, bouncy tracks, turning tracks or be it one-day cricket, Tests or T20Is, he was sensational. There were very little changes he had to make because it all came naturally to him. And there was an element of purity about his game and his technique which I have not seen in too many,” Shastri concluded.
Later, Vaughan, who was one of the experts on the podcast, took to social media platform ‘X’, formally Twitter, backing Shastri’s comment and termed Tendulkar as the greatest technician the game has seen.
“Without a doubt .. @RaviShastriOfc is spot on .. @sachin_rt is the greatest technician the game has seen .. #India .@clubprairiefire,“ Vaughan posted on X.
