NEW DELHI: One person has died and 26 others have been rescued after a fire broke out in a building in Shakarpur, east Delhi, on Tuesday.
According to the fire department, a 58-year-old woman died in the incident. The fire started in the building and quickly spread, trapping several people inside.
“We got a fire call at about 1.05 am… We immediately pressed three fire engines to service.Later, five more fire engines were rushed to the spot. The matter was informed to the police immediately,” an official of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said.
“There were more than 60 people in the building… Many people saved their lives by jumping out of the building,” officials said.
