NEW DELHI: When Virat Kohli steps out to bat, it’s almost a guarantee that he’s set to shatter records. The star India batter achieved another milestone in his illustrious ODI career.
During the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the former India skipper Kohli went past former Australian captain Ricky Ponting (13704) to become the third highest run getter in ODIs.
Kohli went on to complete a 59-ball fifty, including four fours.
Legendary Sachin Tendulkar leads the chart with 18426 runs followed by former Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara (14234 runs).

Kohli has displayed exceptional form throughout the tournament, amassing an impressive total of 594 runs in nine matches ahead of the semi-final. His outstanding performance includes two centuries and five half-centuries, with a highest individual score of 103 runs.
Earlier, India got off to a blistering start after opting to bat with skipper Rohit Sharma again laying the solid platform with his 47-run knock off 29 balls.
Shubman Gill was forced to retire hurt on 79 featuring eight fours and three sixes before leaving the field with cramps.
