MOHALI: The Mohali police have arrested one Gurpal Singh, a wanted shooter associated with the Goldy Brar-Saba USA gang.
Gurpal, a resident of Derabassi, was captured during a special operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the region. The arrest follows the recent apprehension of Manjeet Singh Khedi Gujjra, alias Guri, in a police encounter on VIP Road, Zirakpur.
Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg said that during the festive period’s special patrolling on November 6, the Zirakpur Police team arrested Guri after a brief encounter, during which he sustained a bullet injury.His associate, Gurpal, managed to escape at that time. Acting on human and technical inputs, the [olice launched a hunt to locate and arrest Gurpal Singh.
The arrest took place in the early morning from village Rankhandi in Saharanpur district of UP, where Gurpal had been provided a hideout by his handlers. The police recovered a .30 caliber Chinese pistol and five live cartridges from the accused during the arrest.
According to the SSP, Guri’s preliminary interrogation revealed that, on the directions of Goldy Brar and Saba USA from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, he and Gurpal were instructed to wait at VIP Road for further instructions. When challenged by the police, they opened fire, resulting in the police retaliating and injuring Guri while Gurpal managed to escape.
