Snap Inc. has partnered with Oppo to unveil two new features in the upcoming ColorOS 14 update. One feature includes a dedicated lock screen shortcut for Snapchat that will allow users to access the app right from the lock screen. Apart from that, Oppo’s latest custom user interface will include a Shelf Card that will feature a Snap Map widget.
Rollout details
Oppo and Snapchat have already started rolling out these two new features on Oppo devices running the ColorOS 14 update starting today.
Snapchat icon as a lock screen shortcut
The newest addition enables users to effortlessly set the Snapchat icon as a shortcut on their lock screen, positioned conveniently at the bottom left of the display. This functionality simplifies access to the Snapchat camera, proving particularly handy for individuals who enjoy swiftly capturing and sharing moments with their friends.
Snap Map widget on Oppo Shelf Card
Oppo’s ColorOS now enables users to integrate a Snap Map widget into the Shelf Card, adding versatility to the platform. This widget facilitates the easy pinning of a friend’s location, providing a quick overview of their recent Snaps and activities. Accessible with a simple swipe-down from any location within the operating system, this integration marks Snapchat as one of the pioneering third-party apps directly incorporated into the Shelf Card.
“Our partnership with Snapchat marks a new exploration into the possibilities of smartphone operating systems,” said Haizhou Zhu, ColorOS Senior Product Manager, OPPO. “By integrating smart, human-centric features crafted alongside our partners, we are offering a smarter and smoother operating system, enabling users to immerse themselves more deeply in the customized Snapchat experience, along with other beloved features on their OPPO devices.”
Juan David Borrero, Director of OEM Partnerships, Snap Inc. said, “Our collaboration with OPPO reflects our commitment to building user-friendly experiences. These new features are tailored for our Indian users, who enjoy using the camera to express themselves visually with their friends and family. We can’t wait to see how these additions will elevate their everyday smartphone experience!
