Nashik Rural SP Shahaji Umap told TOI: “Amit Thackeray was in a party car, going towards Nashik, on the Samruddhi expressway. Around 9.15pm on Saturday, when the vehicle reached the toll plaza at Sinnar, the boom barrier did not rise as the Fastag on it was blacklisted. The issue was resolved, and Thackeray left in just over three minutes.”

MNS workers go on rampage as convoy of Amit Thackeray stopped at toll plaza on Samruddhi Mahamarg
Around 10.15pm, a group of MNS activists came to the toll plaza demanding an apology. The toll booth employees apologised and the activists left. However, at 2.09am on Sunday, 15 alleged MNS workers, armed with sticks, came and broke the window panes of the booths shouting MNS slogans. They too left — it all took barely three minutes, said Umap.
Amit Thackeray later said: “Though the car had a Fastag, the boom barrier did not rise. When my associates asked, the toll employees said there was some issue. But they were arrogant. The toll employees called up their manager. From what I could hear of the voice on their device, the manager too was arrogant. Our car was made to wait for 10 to 15 minutes, and then they let us go. When I reached the hotel, I got to know that the toll plaza had been vandalised. Due to Saheb (Raj Thackeray), 65 toll nakas were shut. Now, one more toll plaza has been added to the list.”
