Mumbai Pune Expressway: Landslide affects traffic; Mumbai-bound carriageway to remain shut from 12pm to 2pm today | Mumbai News

NAVI MUMBAI: Traffic on Mumbai-Pune expressway has been affected after a landslide due to boulder collapse near Adoshi tunnel in the Bhor ghat section towards Mumbai.

The landslide took place around 10.30pm on Sunday.
“The highway Safety Patrol team immediately rushed to the spot to streamline the traffic movement as all three lanes of the Mumbai carriageway were blocked due to the boulders fallen on the highway. The vehicles heading towards Mumbai were diverted on one lane of the Pune carriageway,” said Somnath Gharge, superintendent of police, Raigad.

IRB agency’s JCB vehicle and dumper were summoned to clear the debris from the highway. Fortunately, there was no fatality, Gharge added.
Mumbai carriageway to remain closed from 12pm to 2pm
The Highway Safety Patrol (HSP) has announced closure of Mumbai carriageway for two hours from 12pm to 2pm on Monday. The carriageway has been closed for traffic movement to remove the debris remaining after clearing the boulders fallen on the three lanes, informed Yogesh Bhosale, assistant police inspector of HSP, Bhor ghat unit.
API Bhosale said, “The Mumbai carriageway will be closed to remove the loosened boulders on the hill to prevent another landslide. The LMVs heading towards Mumbai will be diverted along Shingroba ghat section on the old Mumbai-Pune highway.”
