NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has refused to grant anticipatory bail to an IPS officer accused of impersonating the Chief Justice of Patna HC by creating a fake WhatsApp account in his name to influence judicial proceedings.
A bench headed by Justice Aniruddha Bose directed the officer to surrender within two weeks, saying he is not entitled to the benefit of anticipatory bail because of the seriousness of the alleged offence and non-cooperation.
Petitioner Aditya Kumar was indicted for conspiring with other accused to drive undue benefits in postings and to get disciplinary proceedings against him dropped. The court directed the registrar general to provide details in a sealed cover of the action initiated by December 9, 2023.
