NEW DELHI: With the disengagement process in eastern Ladakh still incomplete, India and China held another round of diplomatic talks to address the issue.
While the talks ended without any breakthrough or significant announcement, the two sides agreed to continue dialogue through military and diplomatic channels and hold the next round of the senior commanders’ meeting at the earliest.
The 28th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) had India and China reviewing the situation along the LAC in the western sector of the India-China border areas, and engaging in an “open, constructive and in-depth discussion of proposals to resolve the remaining issues and achieve complete disengagement in eastern Ladakh”. India pressed China for an early completion of the disengagement process to allow the bilateral relationship to return to normal.
They further agreed on the need to maintain peace and tranquility along the border areas, ensure a stable situation on the ground and avoid any untoward incident, said the Indian government in a statement.
“The two sides agreed to continue dialogue through military and diplomatic channels and hold the next round of the Senior Commanders’ Meeting at the earliest in order to achieve the above objective,” it added.
