West Tuipui Assembly Election Result 2023: The electoral excitement in Mizoram‘s West Tuipui has reached its peak as the counting of votes has concluded in the constituency. Following the conclusion of the counting process, MNF‘s Prova Chakma emerged victorious in West Tuipui, securing 7167 votes against INC’s Nihar Kanti Chakma 6456.
This Mizoram assembly constituency witnessed a significant political battle, with the incumbent Nihar Kanti Chakma representing the Indian National Congress.This time around, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated T. Lalengthanga, while Prova Chakma represents the Mizo National Front (MNF), and Kawlhnuna is the candidate from the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM).

Counting of votes for the West Tuipui assembly constituency commenced at 8 AM, and according to the latest updates from the ECI website, Prova Chakma of the Mizo National Front has secured victory with 7167 votes. In the second position is Nihar Kanti Chakma, representing the Indian National Congress, with 6456 votes, while Kawlhnuna of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) holds the third position with 789 votes.
In the previous Mizoram Assembly election, the Indian National Congress (INC) emerged victorious in the West Tuipui seat. In the 2018 election, West Tuipui witnessed an impressive 87.25% voter turnout, with Nihar Kanti Chakma of INC winning with 5943 votes. BJP’s Kina Ranjan Chakma secured the second position with 3543 votes. This year, the voter turnout stands at 18.51%.
The voting process in West Tuipui occurred on November 7, and exit polls indicated interesting dynamics. In the broader context of Mizoram’s political landscape, the last election saw MNF winning 27 out of 40 seats, with INC securing 4 seats. As we eagerly await the results, it remains to be seen if the current election will mirror the previous outcome or usher in a new political era.
About West Tuipui Assembly Constituency
West Tuipui is a constituency in Mizoram, part of both the state Assembly and the Mizoram Lok Sabha. It is situated in the rural Lunglei district in the South region of Mizoram. The constituency has a total of 14,783 voters, including 7,819 males and 6,964 females. In the 2018 Mizoram elections, West Tuipui had a high voter turnout of 86.98%. In the same election, Nihar Kanti Chakma of the Congress won against BJP’s Kina Ranjan Chakma by 2,385 votes. Kina Ranjan Chakma received over 3,558 votes, while Nihar Kanti Chakma secured more than 5,943 votes with a vote percentage of 45.83%.
