Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series: Samsung launches Watch6 series, brings back the popular physical rotating dial

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch6 Series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea. The announcement comes alongside the new Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+ and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

The key highlights of the Watch6 series are updated health and wellness features including in-depth sleep analysis, AFib support, better heart rate monitoring and more.
Galaxy Watch Classic is back

Samsung has brought back the Classic moniker with Watch Series 6 which was replaced by the ‘Pro’ with Watch 5 series. With the Watch 6 Classic, Samsung has also brought back the iconic physical rotating dial.
If you are unaware, the physical rotating dial on Samsung watches has been there since almost initial models and it allows users to rotate the dial to navigate on the watch, scroll through messages, notifications, widgets, menu, app screen and more.
Apart from that, Samsung has also made several updates to its watch lineup. This includes new in-depth sleep insights that analyse sleep patterns and provide users with detailed reports along with how to improve them via sleep coaching.
The watches now offer in-depth sleep analysis of Sleep Score Factors which includes total sleep time, sleep cycle, awake time, plus physical and mental recovery – to help users understand the quality of sleep received each night. They also offer more individualised sleep messages co-developed by National Sleep Foundation to offer better feedback about sleep quality.
Apart from that, Samsung has also updated the heart rate monitoring system with the option to add create a personalised HR zone. The feature analyzes individual physical capabilities and defines five optimal running intensity levels to help users set their own goals based on their ability – from burning fat to high-intensity workouts. In addition to over 100 existing workout trackers, the newly added Track Run records the user’s runs on a track, while Custom Workout allows users to build and track their personalised workout routine.
Added to existing blood pressure and electrocardiogram monitoring, the new Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification feature helps users understand their heart health more comprehensively by checking for heart rhythms suggestive of Atrial fibrillation (AFib) in the background – even while asleep. Galaxy Watch6 can also enable users to track skin temperature during the night to give valuable insights including menstrual cycle tracking. And Fall Detection can gauge a fall, whether occurring during exercise when standing still, or even while sleeping if users happen to fall out of bed. Once a fall is detected, your watch will automatically alert an emergency service number or pre-selected contacts.
Talking about other changes, the Galaxy Watch6 series features slimmer bezels and larger displays. The Galaxy Watch6 series. Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic come with a 30% slimmer bezel and a 15% thinner rotating bezel respectively, enhancing the beauty of the signature circle frame. Also, the watches feature around 20% bigger displays with 2000 nits of peak brightness. Samsung watches now also let users adjust the always-on display brightness to help them view better in all conditions.
Availability
Galaxy Watch6 comes in 44mm and 40mm sizes. The 44mm is available in Graphite and Silver colour options. While the 40mm comes in Graphite and Gold colour options. Galaxy Watch6 Classic featuring the rotating bezel is available in Black and Silver in 43mm and 47mm sizes. The Galaxy Watch6 series starts at $299 and it will go in sale in global markets starting August 11.
