2 days of rain help Mumbai get 97% of season’s average | India News

MUMBAI: With two consecutive days of triple digit rain, the city has already received 97% of the season’s average rainfall of 2,318mm, touching 2,247.5mm on Friday.

In the 24-hour period ending at 8.30am on Friday, IMD Colaba observatory recorded 116mm rainfall and Santacruz 119mm. Northern suburbs like Dahisar (237mm), Borivli (194mm), Vasai (138mm), Thane (166mm) and Dahanu (224mm) saw much intense rainfall. The good news, however, came in from the catchment areas as each lake got over 100mm rainfall and hold stock over 70% capacity.
The intensity of rain on Friday, however, was less compared to the last few days, with IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatory recording only light rainfall of 6.8mm and 19.4mm, respectively, in the nine hours ending at 5.30pm. The weather bureau said that over the weekend, Mumbaikars can expect rain to reduce even further.
