IPhone Pictures: Your best iPhone pictures can win you a bar of gold, platinum

Millions of images are clicked from iPhones on a daily basis across the world. The iPhone Photography Awards (IPPA) — not instituted or run by Apple — select some of the images every year and reward photographers. This year’s IPPA are now officially open and iPhone users from across the world can enter the competition. Here we tell you all you need to know about entering the competition and winning some fancy prizes.


Who is eligible to participate?

As per the IPPA, entries are open worldwide to photographers using an iPhone or iPad. Entrants must keep in mind that photos should not be published previously anywhere but those posted on Facebook or Instagram are eligible.


What are the main requirements?

The photos should not be altered in any desktop image processing program such as Photoshop. However, users are allowed to use iOS apps to edit their photos. Furthermore, iPhone add-on lenses can also be used.


What are the prizes?

A grand prize winner will receive an iPad Air and the top three winners will each receive an Apple Watch. The 1st place winner of the 14 categories will win a Gold Bar from the most recognisable private gold mint in the world, as per the IPPA. The 2nd and 3rd place winners of the 14 categories will win a Platinum Bar from the most recognisable private gold mint in the world.


What are the categories in which photos can be submitted?

The categories include Abstract, Animals, Architecture, Children, Citylife/Cityscape, Landscape, Lifestyle, Nature, People, Portrait, Series (3 images), Still Life, Travel, and Other.


Is there an entry fee to enter the competition?

Yes, depending on how many images you want to submit, there is a fee per image that needs to be paid. To submit one image users have to pay $5.50 (roughly Rs 470). The fee for submitting 50 images is $135.50.
What’s the last date to submit your entries?
There’s ample time for iPhone users to go out and click images for the competition. The last date is March 31, 2024.
