This is also a record for the most series wins by any team against one opposition.
As the wait begins for the five-match T20I series between India and the West Indies to start on August 3, TimesofIndia.com here takes a look at some of the most interesting statistics from the three-match ODI series that saw Ishan Kishan walk away with the ‘Man of the Series’ award, further strengthening his claim for a berth in India’s ODI World Cup squad:
# India, with their 2-1 series triumph, have won their 13th successive bilateral ODI series vs the West Indies, extending their record of most series wins by a team against any opponent in ODIs.
# India have won six successive ODI series against the West Indies in the Caribbean. They won the previous five series there – in 2009, 2011, 2017, 2019 & 2022.
# For the first time in a calendar year, India have won two matches with a margin of 200 or more – by 317 runs vs Sri Lanka at Thiruvananthapuram on January 15, 2023 & by 200 runs vs West Indies at Tarouba on August 1, 2023.
# India’s triumph by 200 runs is the biggest victory margin in terms of runs by any team against West Indies in the Caribbean, outstripping England’s 186-run win at Bridgetown on March 9, 2017.
# India’s previous biggest win against the West Indies in the Caribbean was by 119 runs at Port of Spain on July 27, 2022.

# After nine years and 253 days, Unadkat played an ODI – an unwanted record held by an Indian player, missing 192 matches. The Indian record for missing most matches (196) in succession stands in the name of Sairaj Bahutule
# Sanju Samson has recorded his third fifty in ODIs – his second vs the West Indies. He had scored 86* vs South Africa at Lucknow on October 6, 2022 and 54 vs the West Indies at Port of Spain on July 24, 2022.
# Ishan Kishan has recorded three consecutive 50-plus scores (52, 55 & 77) to become the fifth Indian batter to achieve the distinction in the Caribbean in ODIs, joining Ajinkya Rahane (four), Shreyas Iyer (four), Sourav Ganguly & Virat Kohli. Kohli remains the only Indian to post three consecutive centuries in the Caribbean – 111 not out at Kingston on July 6, 2017; 120 on August 11 & 114 not out on August 14 – both at Port of Spain in 2019.

# Hardik’s unbeaten match-winning knock of 70 off 52 balls is his first fifty as Captain in ODIs. His tenth fifty overall is also his first vs the West Indies.
# Mukesh Kumar (3/30) has produced his best bowling performance in his brief three-ODI career.
