Dramatic video captures CBI arresting Delhi cops for taking bribe of Rs 50,000 | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: High drama ensued on Tuesday after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday apprehended two head constables from the Delhi Police on charges of soliciting a bribe. While CBI was in the process to arrest them, one of the constables tried to flee from the spot. The accused was overpowered by a CBI official.
The accused, identified as Bhim and Akshay, allegedly demanded illicit payments in exchange for permitting e-rickshaw charging and parking in the Mangolpuri region. Both are head constables in the Delhi Police and are presently posted at Mangolpuri Police Station.

According to a statement issued by CBI, they were notified of a complaint on July 10. The complaint was lodged by an individual who operates an e-rickshaw charging shop located at LSC Market, K Block in Mangolpuri, Delhi.
As per the complaint, it is alleged that on July 7, a head constable named Bhim from Mangolpuri police station threatened the complainant. The threat involved disrupting the complainant’s e-rickshaw charging shop operations, confiscating the e-rickshaws, and demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 for granting permission to park and charge e-rickshaws in front of the shop.
Following this, the accused were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The entire incident was captured in a CCTV installed outside the police station.
