“It was alleged that the vigilance unit of the Department of Science and Technology had been in receipt of complaints from the employees of Survey of India regarding malpractices in compilation of marks in answer sheets in connection with Limited Departmental Competitive Examination held in October 2002 in the Survey of India,” the FIR claimed. As a result of this manipulation, it was alleged, the candidates who had apparently passed were made to fail and vice versa on large scale. This allegedly resulted in the wrong selection of 44 candidates.CBI’s anti-corruption unit had filed an FIR in 2020 and the chargesheet was filed last week, sources said.
The inquiry revealed that the exam was conducted for 208 vacancies which were later reduced to 74.
