[ad_1]

CERT-In, the nodal internet security agency under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, which deals with cybersecurity threats like phishing, hacking and others has warned users against FraudGPT. For those unaware, FraudGPT is an AI-powered Chatbot used by fraudsters to write fraudulent content for cyber frauds and crimes.

What makes FraudGPT dangerous
FraudGPT can generate authentic-looking phishing emails, text messages, or websites that trick users to reveal sensitive information, such as login credentials, financial details, or personal data.

It can create deceptive messages to trick users to click on malicious links/attachments leading to malware infections. The app can imitate human conversation with users to share sensitive information or to perform harmful actions. It can also be used by hackers to create fraudulent documents, invoices, or payment requests for financial scams.
Tips to stay safe
Here are the tips shared by Cert-In for internet users to stay safe:
Avoid clicking on links/attachments from unknown sources: Most common forms of scams and attacks take place via links and attachments. The best way to stay safe is to avoid clicking on the random links and downloading attachments from mail, messages, etc.
Always verify the authenticity of calls, emails or messages: CERT-In has warned users to verify the authenticity of calls, emails and messages we receive, especially the ones that are asking for sensitive information or financial transactions. Also, it is advisable to contact the organisation directly through their official channels to validate such requests.
Update security software: Government also wants users to regularly update their security software, install patches and use genuine antivirus programs to protect against potential threats.
Apart from this, users can also keep their phones updated with the latest software available. These updates include essential security fixes as well as improved the overall security of the device.
