SRINAGAR: The NIA on Thursday conducted raids at the houses of hybrid terrorists and overground workers of Pakistan-backed banned outfits and their affiliates in Shopian, Awantipora and Pulwama in south Kashmir.
Several digital devices containing incriminating data were seized during the searches, carried out at five locations in a terrorist conspiracy case registered on June 21 last year.
According to a statement issued by the NIA, the raids were part of the ongoing crackdown against cadres and sympathisers of newly floated terror groups, including The Resistance Front, United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir, Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind, J&K Freedom Fighters, Kashmir Tigers and PAAF, among others.
“These cadres and workers have been involved in the collection and distribution of sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, IEDs, funds, narcotic substances and arms/ammunitions,” the statement said.
NIA investigations have revealed that Pakistan-based terror operatives are using social media to unleash violence and promote secession in Kashmir. They are using drones to deliver arms and ammunition, explosives and narcotics etc. to their operatives in J&K to fund and facilitate their nefarious activities.
According to the probe agency, OGWs are an important part of the terror ecosystem which the government is aiming to dismantle.
