Threads has received its first update since its public debut on July 6. The update, which is available now in the Apple App Store, brings a few new features and bug fixes to the app that makes the app more user-friendly and a more seamless experience for users. Instagram software engineer Cameron Roth posted on Threads, “New @threadsapp iOS updated dropped today! Check out what we’ve been hard at work cooking up.” According to Roth, the update includes the ability to use the app on iOS 17 beta without crashing and expand pics on profiles.

Support for extra tall photos: This means users can now post photos that are taller than the standard 1:1 ratio.
A newly polished “facepile pill”: This is the display of a list of people that appears at the top of the screen when there are new posts to read. The pill has been updated to give it a more polished and modern look.
Other bug fixes: The update also fixes a number of other bugs, including issues with scrolling, dismissing threads, and viewing profiles.
