BCCI loses ‘Golden’ tick on X. Here’s the reason! | Off the field News

NEW DELHI: In a surprising development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday lost its golden tick verification on social media platform account ‘X’, earlier known as Twitter, after the Indian cricket board changed its profile picture to the Indian tricolour in support of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a campaign ahead of India’s 77th Independence Day, inviting residents to display the Indian flag on their social media profiles.
“In the spirit of the #HarGharTiranga movement, let us change the DP of our social media accounts and extend support to this unique effort which will deepen the bond between our beloved country and us.”

The BCCI graciously acceded to the request by changing its profile image to the tricolour.
Unexpectedly, this decision led to the loss of the coveted golden verification tick. The removal of the verification tick is a consequence of clicking the ‘X’ button when accounts modify their profile images.

The golden verification tick serves as a crucial mark of authenticity, signifying that an account genuinely represents the claimed organisation.
