Social Media: Action being taken over false quote of CJI online: Supreme Court | India News

NEW DELHI: Taking exception of a false quote of CJI DY Chandrachud being circulated on social media, the apex court on Monday said appropriate action was being taken.

The post doing the rounds on social media falsely said that the CJI has appealed to people to come out on the streets against the “dictatorial government”.
In a press release issued by its public relations office, the SC said, “It has come to the notice of the Supreme Court that a social media post (invoking the public to protest against the authorities) using a file photograph and falsely quoting the CJI is being circulated. The post is fake, ill-intended and mischievous. No such post has been issued by the Chief Justice of India nor has he authorised any such post. Appropriate action is being taken in this regard with law enforcement authorities.”
