Google: Google Search is getting a new generative AI feature, here’s what it does

[ad_1]

After Microsoft, Google has started integrating generative AI across all its apps and services. According to a new blog post published by the company, Google’s AI-powered Search Generative Experience (SGE) is getting a new feature that will make users’ lives easier while browsing the internet.

Now, Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) can already summarise the internet by looking at different websites and sources for your query. The latest feature that it has received works after you’ve clicked a link from your search.
Google’s generative AI can summarise the articles

The feature we are talking about is the ability to summarise an article from the internet. The blog post states that the new feature will start rolling out from Tuesday as an early experiment. However, it will be a gradual rollout and it may take a while to become available to all users who’ve opted in for the Search Labs program.
Also, the feature will be available on Android, iOS and on desktop via Google Chrome browser in coming days.
How it works
The SGE while browsing has the ability to generate key points from an article after you tap on the icon placed at the bottom of the screen. Also, the feature only works for articles. The articles need to be freely available. Google has confirmed that the feature won’t work with the articles that are hidden behind the paywall.
Other SGE improvements
In addition to this, Google has also made several other improvements to SGE. For instance, Google has added a new hover feature that lets users hover over any word from the search or article to get definitions, diagrams and other details to help it understand better.
