NEW DELHI: The annual meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was held in Ooty near Combatore on Saturday to discuss ways to make shakhas (branches) more aligned with their social responsibilities.
The Akhil Bharatiya “Prant Pracharak Baithak”, which held between July 13-15, also exhorted the Sangh’s shakhas to be more proactive.
According to a statement, serious concerns were also raised about the current situation in violence-hit Manipur where efforts have been made by RSS workers to create an environment of peace and provide necessary assistance to the affected families.
The meeting also discussed the expansion of relief efforts for the affected people by the RSS volunteers.
“All sections of society were urged to contribute to fostering mutual harmony and establishing peace. Additionally, a call was made to the government to take every possible action for permanent peace and rehabilitation,” the statement said.
The RSS leaders also reviewed the service activities conducted by the Sangh for the people affected by the recent floods in Mandi, Kullu, and other districts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi.
The meeting also reviewed the future expansion of activities and the centenary expansion plan of the Sangh for the upcoming centenary year.
A discussion on organisational matters was also held, which was attended by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and other senior functionaries.
