Reliance Jio has announced the launch of Jio AirFiber services in eight metro cities across the country on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. For those unaware, Jio AirFiber is the company’s Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solution powered by the company’s True 5G service. Reliance Jio has created a dedicated fifth-generation or 5G network slice for its 5G Fixed Wireless Access solution, the company’s president Kiran Thomas had said earlier.
Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) refers to a type of wireless communication that provides high-speed internet access to fixed locations or buildings, using wireless technology instead of traditional wired connections such as fibre optic cables or copper lines. This means that broadband via FWA devices do not require any wires or installation whatsoever.
“JioAirFiber delivers fiber-like speed over the air without any wires. You just have to just plug it in, turn it on, and that’s it. You now have a personal Wi-Fi hotspot in your home, connected to ultra-high-speed internet using True 5G. With JioAirFiber, it will be really easy to quickly connect your home or office to Gigabit-speed Internet,” says the company on its website.
