Notable features of the terminal building include a 4000 sqm terminal area, a peak hour capacity of 300 passengers, five check-in counters (with three more planned for the future), two arrival carousels, and two aircraft parking bays suitable for ATR-72 aircraft.

In terms of sustainability, the airport boasts a double-insulated roofing system, energy-efficient HVAC and lighting systems, low-heat gain glazing, ECBC-compliant equipment, a solid waste management system, recycling of treated water for flushing and horticulture, integrated rainwater harvesting with a Sustainable Urban Drainage System, and the use of efficient water fixtures.

The Tezu Airport upgrade project aims to bring benefits such as increased capacity to handle higher traffic volumes, enhanced connectivity for the northeastern region with the rest of the country, a boost to tourism, trade, and job creation, and the promotion of infrastructure development and economic growth in the region.
