iPhone 15 can restrict batteries from being fully charging
All the models in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineup feature a new battery health setting. When enabled, this setting prevents the devices from charging beyond 80% at all times. The feature was first spotted by MacRumors. We at TOI-GadgetsNow were also able to access the option in the Charging Optimisation option available in the Battery section in Settings.
How is it different from the Optimised Battery Charging
The pre-existing Optimised Battey Charging feature on iPhones is different from the new setting. The older feature can intelligently delay charging past 80% until a more appropriate time. The feature learns from the user’s daily charging routine of the iPhone.
On the other hand, When the 80% hard limit feature is enabled, the iPhone will never charge past that point whatsoever. This feature is not available in the previous iPhone models and can be accessed only on the latest iPhone 15 models.
How to access the feature
All iPhone 15 devices have three options under Settings>Battery>Battery Health & Charging>Charging Optimisation:
- Optimised Battery Charging
- 80% Limit
- None
Just like the Optimised Battery Charging option, the new feature also safeguard’s iPhone’s battery. However, the 80% hard limit can improve an iPhone battery’s lifespan by reducing the time that the battery is fully charged.
