BJP takes a dig at opposition group’s name INDIA, says name change won’t change character | India News

NEW DELHI: The BJP mocked the 26 opposition parties that met in Bengaluru on Tuesday and named their grouping as INDIA, which stands for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.
BJP IT Cell head and co-in-charge of West Bengal Amit Malviya said SIMI was a radical organisation. Its officials regrouped under a different banner, when it was banned. But regrouping under a different banner did not change the character of the members and that new organisation too, was eventually banned.
He said, “Similarly, UPA had become synonymous with corruption and regressive politics. The same players, now regrouping under a different name, will not make them any more credible. People will banish them to boondocks, again.”
Malviya said In 2024, the country will elect Prime Minister Modi again. “The future of our country is too precious to be risked with one of the self serving, corrupt, dynastic parties. It is apparent that they have come together to save their shrinking turfs, not serve the people. You can see their commitment from the fact that the Congress president can not even pronounce ‘India’!” he added.

In another tweet, Malviya said, “National Democratic Alliance was founded in 1998. 25 years later, on a day, an expanded, stronger, NDA is meeting, the UPA had to kill its existence and acquire a new identity, even when those, who are part of the ‘new’ alliance, haven’t changed. Character does not change by changing name.”

Addressing media persons after the meeting of the 26 parties was over, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announced that the name of the 26 opposition parties will be INDIA.
TMC supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said India means Bharat and no one can challenge the country. She said, “Can NDA challenge INDIA?”
TMC said in its tweet, “The tyrannical regime is about to end. @BJP4India, your days are numbered.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in his address to the media persons, also delved into the name INDIA and, in a pun on the word India, said, “INDIA will win.”
