LUCKNOW: On Tuesday late night, Shakurbasti-Mathura MEMU (04446) broke through the platform of Mathura junction after all passengers and even crew including loco-pilots, TTEs and train guard deboarded the passenger train at the terminating station.
The MEMU rake belonged to Northern railways had arrived at the station at 10:48 pm.
Speaking to TOI, the official source of the Agra division North Central railway under whom Mathura junction falls said, “The MEMU arrived at platform 2A and after five minutes it rolled over breaking the overhead electricity (OHE) pole, disrupting OHE supply and also damaging the platform.”

“There were no loco pilots in the train and neither were passengers. No one was injured. They all had already deboarded. The train was stationary for more than five minutes,” said the source.
The source added, that “There could’ve been some maintenance staff inside when the train broke through the platform. The reason behind the accident is being looked into. It’s too soon to tell.”
The MEMU has scheduled to leave for national capital by early morning hours on Wednesday.
