NEW DELHI: Indian markswoman Sift Kaur Samra displayed exceptional shooting skills to secure the gold medal in the individual 50m rifle 3-position event at the Asian Games. Samra achieved a remarkable World and Games record score of 469.6, earning the top spot on the podium. Her compatriot, Ashi Chouksey, delivered a solid performance, earning the bronze medal with a score of 451.9.

The host nation, China, was represented by Qiongyue Zhang, who claimed the silver medal with a score of 462.3. Zhang’s performance prevented what could have been an India one-two finish in the event.

Prior to her victory in the final, Sift Kaur Samra set a new Asian Games record in the qualification round with an impressive total score of 594 out of 600. She shared this top spot with China’s Xia Siyu, who secured first place based on higher inner 10 scores, which are shots closer to the center of the target. Ashi Chouksey also demonstrated her skill in the qualification round, earning a total score of 590 and qualifying in the sixth position.
In the women’s 50m rifle 3-position team event, the Indian trio, consisting of Samra, Chouksey, and Manini Kaushik, contributed to their country’s success by claiming the silver medal. They achieved a total score of 1764 in the qualification round.
