MUMBAI: A man rescued by Mumbai police after Interpol‘s alert that he was googling ways to die by suicide told cops that he was frustrated at not being able to find a job and to bring his mother out of jail. Police promised to help him find a job and sent him home with a relative.
After Interpol’s alert on Tuesday noon, a team supervised by joint CP (crime) Lakhmi Gautam and comprising senior PI Vinayak Chavan and other members of the staff collected technical intelligence about the mobile number and found the man using it in a rented room in Malvani, Malad.
“Within two hours, our team found the man and brought him to the crime branch unit office. While we were asking him why he was looking for information on ‘suicide best way’ on the internet, he said he had lost all hope. He said that his mother was arrested in a criminal case two years ago and had been in jail since then. He said he was unable to arrange money for legal expenses for her bail,” a crime branch officer said.
The man further told police that he originally belongs to Rajasthan and had come to Mumbai three years ago. After passing his junior college exams, he did a diploma in computers. “He said that he got a job at a real estate office in Mira Road. However, six months ago, he lost his job. He said that he tried at several places but couldn’t get a job and was worried about it. He said he was tense due to financial problems and was experiencing suicidal thoughts for the past last two days,” the officer said.
