Meta has just concluded its Connect Stage event and at the event, the company has announced new generative AI tools that will let users edit images and create stickers using the text based prompts.
Available platforms
The new Image editing tools will be available on Instagram and the AI-generated chat stickers will be made available on Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and Facebook.
AI-based features coming to Meta’s apps and services
AI-image editing: The AI-image editing feature on Instagram includes two features — Restyle and Backdrop. The Restyle feature allows users to input text prompts and make the edits into the image based on the instructions.
The Backdrop feature is also based on the text prompts. But, this feature use the text prompts to generate background images.
The new AI-based stickers will allow users to create stickers using text prompts. Meta says that this will end up creating multiple and unique high quality stickers. The feature is powered by Meta’s recently announced Llama 2 large language model.
The feature will be made available across all platforms including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories, Messenger and more.
The feature will first start rolling out next month for select users who have selected English as their primary language.
For those unaware, Meta has also announced Quest 3 mixed reality headset at a starting price of $499.
Notable features of the Meta Quest 3 include improved performance, powered by double the graphic processing power of the Quest 2. This is made possible by the new Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform, developed in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies. The result is fast load times and improved visual detail.
