Social media giant Meta has introduced a new feature for users in the US. With this feature, the company doesn’t want its users to leave its popular mobile apps while making purchases on Amazon. Meta will allow users to link their Facebook and Instagram accounts to Amazon. This will help them to buy goods by clicking on promotions in their feeds. The company calls this feature “Purchase with Amazonwithout leaving Facebook or Instagram” and has updated a support page related to it.This page is currently unavailable in India and can be accessed in the US.
In a statement to CNBC, an Amazon spokesperson said: “For the first time, customers will be able to shop Amazon’s Facebook and Instagram ads and check out with Amazon without leaving the social media apps. Customers in the U.S. will see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates, and product details on select Amazon product ads on Facebook and Instagram as part of the new experience.”
How this feature will help Meta and Amazon
In 2021, Apple made privacy changes that made it more difficult for social media companies to target users. This affected Meta’s business by pushing down its stocks by 64% in 2022 and also impacting the digital ad market. But, the company bounced back in 2023 after three-quarters of revenue declined as its stocks grew by 160%.
Meta said that its investments in artificial intelligence helped the company to land retailers looking to serve customers with targeted promotions.

Meta executive Stuart McMullin took to LinkedIn to explain that the new shopping service “was a long process in the making and a huge deal.”
Amazon has also been trying to boost its ad business for several years. Last month, the company said that its online ad business sales grew 26% YoY in the third quarter to $12.06 billion.

Meta’s partnership with Amazon can make it easier to allow businesses to sell goods on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram without creating custom storefronts on those apps.
