However, it was her impressive net score of 27 that propelled her to the second position, securing the silver medal. The gold medal went to Noppassorn Khunboonjan of Thailand, while Singapore’s Kiera Marie Carlyle claimed the bronze with a net score of 28.
In the sport of sailing, the competitor’s worst score from all the races is subtracted from the total points to determine the net score. The sailor with the lowest net score is declared the winner.
The girl’s dinghy ILCA-4 category featured a total of 11 races, with Neha Thakur accumulating 32 points over the course of the competition. Her fifth race, where she garnered five points, turned out to be her weakest performance, resulting in her net score of 27.
It’s worth noting that ILCA-4 is categorized as a one-design dinghy class in the laser series and represents a specific class of sailboats, known for its standardized design.
