Circles: X pulls the plug on the Circles feature: All the details

[ad_1]

Circles, a feature on X, which allowed users to limit their posts to a certain group of people is going away for good. The social media platform announced this in a post on its website. “X is deprecating Circles as of Oct 31st, 2023. After this date, you will not be able to create new posts that are limited to your Circle, nor will you be able to add people to your Circle. You will, however, be able to remove people from your Circle, by unfollowing them,” said X in the post. The platform — formerly known as Twitter — also informed users about how to remove people from their Circles.

How to remove people from Circles

  • Log in to X
  • Go to the account that is in your Circles and unfollow them.
  • They will no longer be in your Circle. They can no longer see your past Circle Posts.
  • Follow them again, if you wish, they will not be added to your Circle

Twitter Circles — that’s what it was called when launched — is a feature that allows users to create a group of up to 150 people and share tweets with that group only. Tweets shared with a Twitter Circle will appear with a green badge underneath them and can only be seen by the people in the circle. They cannot be retweeted or shared outside of the circle, and all replies to these tweets are private, even if the Twitter account is public.
Twitter Circles was meant to ensure that users could have more personal conversations with a select group of people, such as close friends, family, or colleagues. It can also be used to share more sensitive content that you don’t want to share with the world.
X hasn’t given any official reason on why it has decided to do away with Circles.
