Managing photos and videos in any gallery app is a cumbersome process, especially in the era where people capture hundreds of thousands of photos regularly. To make things easier for users to organise the photos and videos in the app, Google has rolled out two new features — Stacks and better organising features for screenshots and documents.
Google Photos Stacks
We usually capture multiple photos and then pick the perfect one later. This requires multiple attempts to get that perfect shot. This leads to the accumulation of redundant images in your gallery. Google Photos addresses this issue by employing AI to automatically identify and group similar photos taken in close succession intoPhoto Stacks.
The system then selects the optimal image that best encapsulates that particular moment. While AI facilitates this organization, users retain the flexibility to manually choose their preferred photo as the top pick, modify the stacks, or disable Photo Stacks at their discretion, ensuring a personalised and clutter-free experience when navigating through their Photos gallery.
Enhancements to screenshots and documents
Apart from that new Stacks feature, Google Photos is also getting improvements to screenshots and documents.
Using artificial intelligence, Google Photos enhances its ability to identify and automatically organise screenshots and documents within your gallery. It intelligently creates albums with practical labels such as ID, receipts, and event information, streamlining the process of locating specific items. This feature eliminates the need to manually scroll through all your photos, providing a convenient and efficient way to access the content you require precisely when you need it.
Apart from this, users now also have the option to set reminders in their calendars from screenshots of a ticket or flyer for an upcoming event. Users can now also choose to automatically archive the screenshots and documents after 30 days which eventually reduces the clutter that screenshots accumulate within the Photos app.
