NEW DELHI: New Zealand enjoy stellar success against India when it comes to ICC tournaments but they are devoid of a centurion in the World Cup for almost five decades before the clash in Dharamsala on Sunday.
Daryl Mitchell ended that agonising wait of 48 years by becoming only the second batter to score a century against India in World Cup.

Glenn Turnerwas the first Kiwi batter to have scored a hundred against India in the 1975 World Cup.

He scored unbeaten 114 in Manchester.
The right-handed Mitchell notched up his 5th ODI hundred and went on to register his highest ever ODI score of 130 to guide New Zealand to 273 in 50 overs.
Mitchell, who survived dropped catches on 59 and 69, stood firm despite losing Rachin Ravindra and then skipper Tom Latham for five off Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm wrist spinner who took two wickets.

India star pacer Mohammed Shami breaks Anil Kumble’s record, makes triumphant return in ICC World Cup 2023

He forged a 159-run partnership with Rachin (75) and New Zealand, sitting pretty at 205-3 in the 37th over, looked poised for a 300-plus total before Indian bowlers applied the brake.
The partnership set a new World Cup record for the highest stand between the two teams for any wicket, surpassing the previous record of 136 runs held by Sunil Gavaskar and Kris Srikkanth in 1987.
Mohammed Shami led that effort claiming 5-54 in his first match of the ongoing tournament.
