NEW DELHI: As the two women officers from Karnataka – IPS D Roopa and IAS Rohini Sindhuri – failed to reach an out of court settlement, the Supreme Court on Thursday said that it would examine it but asked the IPS officer to delete her social media posts against the IAS officer. The officers indulged in hurling personal allegationsagainst each other leading to the court battle. The row between the two officers began on February 19.
We’re hearing plea for sake of administration: SC
The apex court had on December 13 asked both of them to explore ways to sort out the issue through mediation but the officers told the court that it was not possible.
Expressing disappointment that two officers involved in administration of the state could not sort out their differences amicably, a bench of Justices A S Oka and Pankaj Mithal said that it would hear the case on merit. “If IAS-IPS officers fight like this, how will the administration work,” the bench asked.
The row between the two officers began on February 19 when Roopa levelled 19 allegations, including corruption charges, against Sindhuri. The next day, she shared several photos of the IAS officer. A day later, Roopa took to Facebook to allege that Sindhuri had shared objectionable photographs. She also filed a complaint with the chief secretary of the state demanding an inquiry into the allegations against Sindhuri. The bench said that it would examine the plea filed by Roopa and asked her to remove the objectionable posts within 24 hours.
“We want to bring an end to the whole dispute. That is the only reason that we are hearing it. Don’t be under the impression that we are entertaining your petition or trying to hold in your favour. No. We are not doing that. We are doing it for the sake of the administration of the state,” the bench said.
